Program Overview

It would be hard to find a college in a more spectacular location that the ICMS campus in the Sydney suburb of Manly. To the north of the college, there are spectacular views of the Pacific Ocean stretching to the New South Wales Central Coast. To the south are sweeping views of legendary Sydney Harbor. The campus is a five-minute walk to famous Manly Beach, one of Sydney’s premier beaches. A short walk in the other direction will lead to the shores of the harbor. The ICMS campus is truly breathtaking.

Academic Profile

International College of Management in Sydney

At ICMS you can take 3 or 4 subjects during your semester abroad.  That is approximately 12-16 hours of class time per week.  The program specializes in event management, hospitality management, international tourism, marketing, property services management, retail services management, sports management, and business management.  Course offering include legal issues for event management, hospitality operations, attraction and resort operations, buyer behavior, land and property law, retail technology, psychology and sociology of sports and leisure, and business economics.  There are 120-hour hospitality internships available.  The internship program is an option for students currently studying hospitality/tourism or events at their home University and has completed a previous internship or has work experience in the hospitality industry.  The 120-hours is done in three weeks and can be completed prior to the commencement of your study abroad program.  The internship is only offered prior to the February study abroad term.

ICMS has comprehensive academic and social programs to ensure that you experience the Australian lifestyle while learning within an internationally recognized institution. The college organizes surfing and sailing lessons, offshore fishing expeditions, and outings to many of Sydney’s other attractions.  When studying at ICMS students wear business attire and meet a professional standard of behavior, grooming and presentation.  ICMS professional performance program equips students with the self-discipline they will need when they start their new careers.

 


Activities and Opportunities

Student Life

The study abroad experience at ICMS begins by immersion  into the Australian culture with a five-day adventure in Cairns where a day is spent at the Great Barrier Reef, enjoying aboriginal and wildlife experiences at a pre-orientation cultural program. 

Ferry, trains and buses make Sydney easily accessible. There are many things to do. Walking to nearby Manly, Shelley, and Collins Beach, surfing, beach volleyball, scuba diving, horseback riding, day trips, sailing on Sydney harbor, Sydney city sight tours, harbor bridge climb and seeing Australian animals at Taronga Zoo, are some of the local attractions.

All students have access to 24-hour computer labs, library, café, bar and full working restaurant.  Wireless internet is available throughout campus.  Students have access to the academic learning center, emotional and physical health services, and residential support. Whether into rugby, football, tennis, yoga, or swimming, students can be involved in sports and fitness programs run by the student experience manager.  Students will also have access to a discounted membership to the nearby student gym.  There are both formal and informal social activities both on and off campus sponsored by the student experience department.   ICMS is a truly international experience with over 1200 students from over 40 different countries around the world.

Housing

Residential accommodations are dormitory style. Students may have the choice of a single, double, or triple room depending on availability. Each room is equipped with a desk, wardrobe, heating units, personal phones with voicemail, internet access; rooms and linens are cleaned weekly. Each floor has common bathrooms, a kitchenette, with iron/ ironing board. All meals are included in accommodations for the length of the term.

Estimated: airfare ($2,000 US), visa ($600 US), books ($300 AUD), personal expenses ($1,500 AUD), and optional 120- hour internship ($2200 AUD)
