KCP International Language Institute in Tokyo

The Intensive Japanese Language Course is the main focus of the KCP program. It concentrates on all four communication skills "reading, writing, speaking, and listening" to help students achieve a balance between general knowledge of the Japanese language and practical ability. Studying at KCP not only provides students an opportunity to learn the Japanese traditions and cultures as the package program incorporates a range of excursions in and around Tokyo.

Furthermore, studying with a diverse KCP student body comprised of individuals from around the world also contribute to the quality and comprehensive nature of the KCP programs.Students have two options: homestay, including breakfast and dinner (not available for short term program); dormitory, meals and utilities not included.

Academic Highlights

Founded in 1983, KCP International Japanese Language School is located in Shinjuku, the business, entertainment, and shopping center of Tokyo. The KCP campus is a short walk from Shinjuku-gyoenmae Station on the Marunouchi subway line. From there, a student has access to such Tokyo landmarks and attractions as the Japanese government buildings, Shinjuku and Yoyogi Parks, Meiji Shrine, Tokyo Tower, and popular student destinations including Shibuya and Harajuku. The school has been featured in many publications throughout Asia and is recognized as a leader in Japanese language education.

KCP International Japanese Language School provides an opportunity for serious students to achieve remarkable proficiency in Japanese. With a student-teacher ratio of 11 to 1, KCP serves over 500 students per year. English-speaking staff provides language support, including special tutorials, in English if needed.

KCP offers two areas of study. The first, a total immersion Intensive Japanese Language Course (taught in Japanese), is the main focus of the KCP program. Special emphasis is placed on a balanced language education program that stresses the 4 most important communication skills: listening, speaking, reading, and writing. The language course is offered at six levels. The second, a Japanese Culture and Civilization Course, offers opportunities to experience Japan first-hand while visiting many notable sights in Tokyo.

Eligibility Requirements

2.5 GPA on a 4.0 scale; freshman through senior standing; transcripts; two letters of recommendation; minimum of 18 years of age.

Costs Included

Instructional costs abroad, administrative fees, textbooks, airport pickup, room, private dormitory housing, or stay with a host family, local transportation pass between lodging and school, numerous cultural excursion and activities, and study abroad health insurance. Lincoln University will transcript the KCP coursesAcademic Credit
Lincoln University has approved for academic credit courses taught at KCP International Japanese Language School. You can earn one year or more of language credit (either semester or quarter) each KCP semester term. Courses appear on a Lincoln University transcript about 30 days after you have completed the term.
Summer Term: 14 semester credits
Summer Short-Term: 10 Semester credits
Japanese Language and Anime/Manga in Japan: 4 language credits, 2 course credits

KCP courses have been approved for credit by Lincoln University but it is up to each student to determine transferability of credit by their home school before attending the program.

Airfare, personal costs, additional insurance, meals and utilities (with dorm stay).
