To help you navigate the confusing world of government financial aid and scholarships, we’re providing you with some simple steps and resources.

Did you know that 90% of undergraduate students use financial aid to fund their undergraduate education?
And that those same government funds are available for use on your study abroad program?

Explore Your Options


Meet with your study abroad advisor and financial aid office to learn about study abroad and government aid on your campus.
Research grants and scholarships. Look through the resources below and talk to your study abroad office about local scholarships.
Develop a budget and plan ahead. Consider your living expenses, some countries are more affordable than others, and develop a budget to help you stay on track while abroad.

Member Scholarships

CCIS Scholarship

In pursuance of the values and mission of the consortium to increase access and opportunity to study abroad, CCIS is sponsoring three scholarships in the amount of $500 for CCIS summer 2017 programs. Students must complete the online application and be nominated by their home institutions' study abroad office. Awards will be applied directly to the total program cost.

Centro Linguistico Conversa

Conversa is sponsoring one CCIS scholarships in the amount of $2,900 for the summer 2017 program. Students of CCIS member institutions are eligible to apply, they must complete the online application and be nominated by their home institutions' study abroad office. The FIE Scholarship in London

All students studying on the program to FIE in London are eligible to apply for FIE scholarships. Scholarships are between $1,000 - $3,000 per semester and between $500 and $1,000 for summer. FIE scholarship applications are available online through their website. FIE will send students a check directly for the scholarship amount awarded. Learn more about the FIE program here.

The Massey Scholarship in New Zealand

Students from CCIS member institutions are eligible to apply for the Massey Scholarship. Massey University is offering three scholarships for $500 each over the summer and fall semesters of 2017. The University of Canterbury Scholarship in New Zealand

The University of Canterbury is offering three NZ$1,500 scholarships for CCIS students for fall 2017. The student must complete an online application submitted to CCIS central, including a statement of purpose, and be nominated by their home institutions' study abroad office. The award will be applied directly to the recipients' bill. Learn more about the program here.

The University of Limerick Scholarship in Ireland

Students of CCIS member institutions who are participating in the University of Limerick program are eligible to apply for nine 500-euro scholarships available for the fall 2017 semester. Students must complete the online application and be nominated by their home institutions' study abroad office. Awards will be applied directly to the total program cost.
